23-year-old Lady Found Dead In Delta Days After Hanging Out With Lover Met On A Dating Website

The police in Delta state have started investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old woman, Precious Yusuf, who was found dead in Asaba, Delta State, after meeting a man from a dating website.

The victim was found dead by the roadside on October 24, 2024, along DLA Road opposite Falcon Club following a distress call to the DPO ‘A’ division, Asaba.

Yusuf was said to had told her friends that she was meeting the man, whom she met on iHappy dating website, on October 22.

State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe who confirmed her death on Saturday, in a statement, said that the deceased last contact was a call to a friend on October 23, saying she was heading home.

Preliminary investigation, according the police spokesman, revealed that the deceased had told friends she was meeting the man, whom she met on iHappy dating site, on October 22.

“She left the house on 22nd October to see the young man at Coka. On the 23rd at about 0730 hours, she called her friend that she was on her way home and that was unfortunately the last time she made any contact only for her corpse to be found the next day”, Edafe said.

He said that the corpse has since been deposited at the mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, assured members of the public particularly the family of the deceased that Investigation has commenced and also assured them of justice.

While condoling the family, the CP, however cautioned young ladies to be mindful of the friends they hang out with and should exercise caution particularly when dealing with people they meet on dating websites and other social media platforms.
