Okuama Killings: ‘Situation Under Control’ – Oborevwori After Closed Door With Tinubu In Aso Rock

The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday said that the crisis situation in Okuama community, Ughelli South council area of the state where 16 soldiers were killed last week had been brought under control.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the governor stated this after a closed door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on the incident that led to the killing of 16 soldiers in Okuama.

Addressing State House Correspondents at the end of the briefing that, Governor Oborevwori, assured that there will be no more further attacks but vowed that the perpetrators of the brutal murder of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army in the incident would be tracked and brought to justice.

The governor vowed to prevent further attacks in the area, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting innocent civilians from the actions of criminal elements.

The governor declined to confirm the report of reprisal attacks allegedly carried out by the military and the number of casualties, saying that being a security issue there are certain things he cannot say in the public.

He, however made reference to his visit to Bomadi and meeting with the security heads in Bomadi on Monday, maintaining that he has been unable to meet with the community involved because the place of the incident is completely deserted.

Recall that 17 military personnel comprising a lieutenant ​colonel, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers were killed while on a “peacekeeping mission”in Okuama community.

While the Delta state and federal governments have condemned the incident while promising that perpetrators would face the wrath of the law, the visit of the State Governor to the presidency may have been spurred by the incident.
