Details on how bidders can take part in the physical inspection and auction of 649 forfeited vehicles located across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory have been made public by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The exercise, which will be carried out by the commission’s appointed auctioneers, will also involve the auctioning of about 39 mobile phones, 11 laptops, and other devices, as well as 15 vessels and barges in the states of Rivers, Delta, and Lagos.

The EFCC announced in an advertisement published in The PUNCH on Friday that the items subject to final forfeiture orders would be sold at physical and online auctions starting on Tuesday in accordance with its Establishment Act of 2004 and the Public Procurement Act of 2007 as well as the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act of 2022.

The advertisement listed the items up for bid in each state, along with the times, places, and websites where interested parties could view the items that would be sold at an electronic auction online.

On December 20, 2022, the physical auctions in Sokoto and Ilorin, respectively, will conclude the exercise, which will be taking place in various and concurrent locations across the affected states and the FCT.

In the meantime, Lagos has the most vehicles up for auction (438), followed by Ibadan, Oyo State, with 80 vehicles, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with 45 vehicles, and the Federal Capital Territory, with 35 vehicles.

There are also 20 vehicles in Benin, Edo State; 11 vehicles in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; 9 vehicles in Enugu; 7 vehicles in Ilorin, Kwara State; and 2 vehicles each in Kano and Sokoto. Exotic cars, pricey sport utility vehicles, trucks, buses, and saloon cars are among the vehicles up for auction.

Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GLK, 4matic, ML, and CLA models; BMW X6, 525i, and other models; Range Rover and Land Rover SUVs; Porsche; Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado; Lexus LX 570; RX 350; and other pricey models are some of the premium brands.

Various Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan, Infinity, Mazda, and other SUV, space waggon, and saloon model variations are included in the lengthy list.

Additionally, the advertorial stated that a variety of laptops, including the Apple Macbook, iPhones, Samsung phones, and others, would be put up for auction.

The commission noted, “The auction is open to the general public throughout Nigeria for the duration of the bidding period, except staff of the commission and persons, groups or organisations against whom the forfeiture order was made.

“Asset viewing is free at the asset locations; assets will be sold ‘as is’ and ‘where is’ and no asset will be sold below the reserved price. A winning bid can only be equal or above the commission’s reserved price.
