A former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo has said that the Late Chief S. Y. Mamamu lived a life of service to the Ijaw Nation and humanity.

Alaowei Bozimo made the remark when he led a combined delegation of the Delta Ijaw for Governor 2023 Movement and the Delta Ijaw Socio-Economic Forum to pay condolence visit to the family of the Late Chief Mamamu and the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Traditional Council of Chiefs in Warri, Delta State.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Bozimo noted that Chief S. Y.Mamamu spent most part of his adult life working for the progress of the Ijaw Nation.

He recalled the role the Late Mamamu played in the formation of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and as Chairman of the Western Zone of the Congress while describing him as a man of courage who fought for his people with all his resources and strength.

While going into memory lane, Bozimo noted that when Gen. John Yerin (Rtd) became Military Administrator of the defunct Bendel State in the late 1980’s, the Late Chief Mamamu was one of the Ijaw leaders who worked closely with other leaders to give the necessary support to General Yerin to succeed in office.

The leader of the Delta Ijaw for Governor 2023 Movement stated that the present struggle by Delta Ijaws for the Governorship of the State in 2023 is part of the things Chief Mamamu believed in and fought for in his life time; hence the decision of the team to identify with the Mamamu family in their period of grief.

Alaowei Bozimo urged the Mamamu family and the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Traditional Council of Chiefs to take solace in the fact that their departed father and leader lived a life of service worthy of emulation.

Responding on behalf of the Mamamu family and the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Chief Tunde Smooth and Chief Joel Ogbona thanked Alaowei Bozimo, members of the Delta Ijaw for Governor Movement and the Delta Ijaw Socio-economic Forum for making out time to pay condolence visit to them.
