A motion by former Imo governor, Owelle Rocha Okorocha, for an order of interim injunction restraining the Imo State government from confiscating his property, has hit the brick wall.

BIGPENNGR reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital refused the motion brought by the former governor on Wednesday.

Recalls a High Court sitting in Owerri had on Tuesday ordered the final forfeiture of properties said to have been acquired through “illegal means” by the now serving Senator.

But ruling on the motion to halt the forfeiture, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, said granting the order by Okorocha would amount to assuming jurisdiction to hear the extant matter despite two pending motions by the defendants, EFCC and Imo challenging the jurisdiction.

He therefore dismissed the motion, and adjourned till 24 August for hearing on the motion challenging the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to hear the matter.

BIGPENNGR understands that the 48 defendants in the suit by Okorocha among others have EFCC, the Attorney General of Imo State and members of the seven panels constituted by the Imo State Government to investigate alleged infractions by Rochas Okorocha.
