SHAMEFUL: Delta Council Boss Goes Berserk, Invades Commissioner’s Residence, Lands In Police Net

Perez Omoun, chairman of Patani Local Government Area in Delta state, is currently cooling his heels at the State Police Headquarters in Asaba, the state capital after going berserk and allegedly invading the state Commissioner for Power and Energy, Basil Ganagana’s residence.
BIGPENNGR.COM understands the delta council boss, Omoun was arrested for reportedly invading the private residence of the Commissioner and destroying properties worth millions of naira including some exotic cars parked at the compound.
It was not clear what transpired before the attack, but some sources privy to the development, said it is far unconnected to alleged moves to block the council chairman’s second term of office by some stakeholders from his local government area.
Ganagana who hails from Patani as Omoun, is believed to be championing the plot to stop the council boss from reelection for second term in his local government council.
Irked by the development, source said that rampaging Omoun, ostensibly stormed the commissioner’s private residence in Asaba and ‘personally used his own car’ to damage the gate of commissioner’s home from where he gained access into the property.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the arrest on Monday, said the council chairman was in police custody, and investigations had since commenced.
“If found guilty, the council chairman will be charged to court,” the spokesman said.
Sources said that the incident which happened on Sunday led to serious pandemonium as residents wondered what had gone wrong between the commissioner and the chairman who is known in the area.
One of our source said that if not for the quick intervention of police officers from the GRA Division in the state capital drafted to the scene, the council chairman would have wreak more havoc on the commissioner’s private residence.
One of the aides to the commissioner, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press on the issue, said that apart from the destruction of property, the commissioner’s driver was also injured in several parts of the body, while the invasion lasted.
“My boss was so very lucky because the council chairman intended to kill the commissioner, but God failed him. The incident happened at about 2:00 am on Sunday. If not for the intervention of police officers from the GRA division, Asaba, by now we would have been telling a different story.
“The council chairman first used his Sport Utility Vehicle to damage the entrance gate and gain access into the compound. He then started destroying vehicles belonging to my boss and his wife as well as other vehicles parked in the compound. The chairman’s action has to do with his second term ticket.”
An official of the state Peoples Democratic Party, confirmed that there is actually plot to stop Omoun from contesting the poll, saying firmly that a new person had actually been picked by the party in the local government council.
“As a party, we have decided to drop Perez and tip another person for the council elections coming up on March 6, 2021, as announced by the state electoral commission. Perez felt the commissioner must have had a hand in his travail hence the unprovoked invasion of the commissioner’s private home in Asaba.
“We, as a party, have spoken in one voice to replace him because he failed woefully in terms of performance.”
