Court Remands Delta Council Chairman, Perez Omoun In Prison Custody
A Magistrate Court sitting in Asaba, Delta state on Wednesday remanded the Chairman of Patani Local Government, Mr. Perez Omoun in prison custody.
BIGPENNGR.COM understands Omoun was arraigned on a four count charge including the intent to cause grievous harm and unlawfully wounding one Mr. Ebikapade Tuesday, while trying to prevent him from attacking Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana and members of his family last Sunday in Asaba, the state capital
Mr. Basil Ganagana, who hail from same local government council as Omoun, is a serving State Commissioner for Energy.
In an order by the presiding Magistrate, V. O. Okonta, Mr. Omoun is to be remanded in the Ogwashi-Ukwu Correctional facility till 30th of December 2020 pending the determination of his bail application and the issue of jurisdiction raised by the prosecutor, Mr. F. O. Itua in the case between the Delta state Commissioner of Police and Mr. Omoun.
BIGPENNGR.COM had reported that delta council boss, Omoun was arrested for reportedly invading the private residence of the Commissioner and destroying properties worth millions of naira including some exotic cars parked at the compound.
It was not clear what transpired before the attack, but some sources privy to the development, said it is far unconnected to alleged moves to block the council chairman’s second term of office by some stakeholders from his local government area.
Omoun had at about 3:am on Sunday 13th of December 2020, allegedly broke into the compound of the Commissioner and former Speaker of the State Assembly pulling down his gate with his Lexus 570 SUV and vandalizing cars and that of his family members parked inside the premises ostensibly when he could not gain access to the commissioner’s bedroom.
