At least 12 directors of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been suspended from work at the anti-graft agency.

Among the 12 personnel was the Secretary of the commission, Olanipekun Olukoyede who work directly with the earlier suspended acting chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu.

The suspension was contained in a letter on Tuesday night from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami who had written a damning incriminating memo against Magu.

Malami’s memo which was reportedly copied all security agencies including the Department of State Security (DSS) Force Headquarters, ICPC, and Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, has been a subject of Magu’s interrogation by a presidential panel.

The presidential panel headed by a retired appeal court judge, Ayo Salami which had earlier quizzed some personnel of NFIU who had earlier investigated Magu, would be interrogating the EFCC’s directors and also invite some DSS personnel to appear before it, BIGPEN learnt.

A source disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the suspension of the EFCC’s directors to enable the panel members to carry out a thorough investigation into the activities of the commission.
