COVID-19: I Am Not Permitted To Reveal Identity Of Contacts, Cases – Health Minister

Published

on

Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, on Thursday, says he has not been given permission to announce the name of contacts or cases tested for coronavirus.

Ehanire stated this during a coronavirus briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, one aide of President Muhammadu Buhari has tested positive to the COVID-19 but he is not permitted to disclosed his names.

“But the victim is in a secured government facility receiving care. Any person doing a test will have to reveal the result by himself,” he noted.

This comes few days after reports say that Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, had tested positive to COVID-19 while President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo tested negative.

The reports were neither confirmed nor denied by either of the presidential spokesmen, Femi Adesina or Shehu Garba. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), saddled with the responsibility of updating Nigerians on the coronavirus pandemic did not also put a name to the cases at the presidential villa.
