BREAKING: Obaseki Revokes CofO Of Ibori’s Property

Edo Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has revoked the statutory right of occupancy granted to a former Delta Governor, Chief James Ibori in respect to a property on plot 103A Aiguobasimwin Crescent, old GRA, Oredo local government.

Governor Obaseki said he revoked the property in exercise of the power conferred on him by sections (28) 1 and 38 of the Land Use Degree of 1978 and by virtue of all other laws enabling him on that behalf.

Obaseki, who signed the revocation order, said the property contained an area of approximately 1985.950 square metres.

Ibori in response to the development said, via SMS: “I am aware. He told me three months ago”, according to a report

BIGPEN understands that the development is part of Obaseki’s moves to expand the state capital, Benin City.

The governor had started moves to develop a new city in the Iyekogba-axis of the state, which is located in Ward 2, Oredo Local Government Area some week ago.

It was gathered that the Governor Obaseki had while inspecting the newly constructed road connecting seven communities in Ward 2, Oredo LGA few days ago, mandated the Commissioner for Infrastructure in the state to re-establish the Right of Way (RoW) in the area as the road would be expanded in the future to ensure free flow of traffic.

“We have acquired 720 hectares of land off this road. We want to build a new city here. But if you sell all the land in this area without proper layout, we will not have where to build more infrastructure. If we plan this community, for years to come, your children will benefit from it.”

“All those building on our right of way should be given notice because in the nearest future, we will expand this road,” he said.
