Updated: JUST IN: CID Operatives Lay Siege To Delta Journalist, Amour Udemude’s Residence

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of Delta State Police Command (CID) are currently laying siege to the Asaba residence of journalist and social critic, Amour Udemude, BIGPEN Online has learnt.
Udemude told journalists that the CID operatives stormed the residence as early as 7:am in the morning on Tuesday.
“As I speak with you my residence is besieged by CID officials in Delta State.
“I don’t know why they’re here.
“But I learnt they had called for reinforcement.
“I’m holed up in my apartment. I don’t know what’s really happening.”
It was not clear as of press time why they surrounded his compound but a source said it is far unconnected to a petition written against him.
Mr. Udemude who hails from Ikpide-Irri community in Isoko South Local Government Area has been in the forefront of the campaign against the reported N763 million ‘substandard road project’ in his community.
It was not immediately clear if the offensive against him was as a result of the road project campaign.
Udemude later posted on his facebook page that his residence has been locked down by the security operatives.
Mr. Udemude was later released on bail around 8: 30 pm at the police headquarters after he wrote a statement reportedly on a news story he published on the crisis in Uzere community in Isoko South Local Government Area.
Editor’s footnote: This story has been reedited to reflect that the security operatives who laid siege to the journalist residence on mufti were identified as personnel of CID and not DSS as was earlier reported.
