Council Chair Imposes Curfew On Delta Communities

The Chairman of Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Jite Brown, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Udu metropolis.
The curfew is to begin from Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from the hours of 6 am to 9 pm daily.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Elohor Awinoron, a lawyer, at the end of a peace and security meeting with the District Police Officer (DPO) and other security chiefs in attendance.
The Council Boss explained that the curfew affects all commercial vehicles including Keke NAPEP and motorbikes, stressing that any commercial vehicle, tricycle (Keke) and Okada found operating after 9 pm or before 6 am daily will be impounded and the operators made to face the full wrath of the law.
The Council boss explained further that the ban covers Ovwian town, Ekete Inland, Ekete Waterside, Owhase town, Orhuwhorun Junction, Express Junction and Mofor Junction, all in Udu metropolis.
He warned that the security agencies have been put on red alert to enforce the curfew, adding that strict compliance with the curfew would be expected by all.
The statement warned cultists to stop their nefarious activities in their own interest so as to foster peace and stability in the social and economic life of the area.
