JUST IN: Gunmen Abduct Governor Ayade’s Security Aide In Calabar

A security aide to Governor Ben Ayade, Mr. Ani Esin has been reportedly abducted in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
This is coming barely 24 hours after INEC declared Governor Ayade winner of the keenly contested Saturday’s March 9 governorship election
Mr. Esin who was a former Chairman of Bakassi LGA was seized at the early hours of Tuesday by unknown gunmen who reportedly beat him up mercilessly.
“The gunmen stormed his home around 3am this (Tuesday) morning and forcefully dragged him out and beat him up for over one hour in his premises before taking him away, multiple sources said.
Quoting a family source, BIGPEN ONLINE in a story sourced from CrossRiverWatch report that “from the exchange between him and the attackers that were beating him, whatever they have with him is political.”
The State police spokesperson, ASP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the story said that the governor’s security adviser has however regain his freedom. She said Mr. Esin was rescued by a team of policemen and currently in the hospital for medical attention.
