Ibori No-show At Atiku Presidential Campaign Rally In Delta

Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori was conspicuously absent from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential campaign rally held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba the state capital.
Ibori, who remains a very influential political figure in Delta State and among the first founding fathers of the PDP was nowhere near the mega rally.
Last year, Ibori was named as Vice Chairman to Professor Sam Oyovbaire in the 2019 campaign council of the party but the former governor main associate, Chief Ighoyota Amori quickly refuted the news report, saying Ibori is only a member of PDP campaign council as an elder statesman.
Ibori, has appeared once in the PDP campaign rallies since it started in Oghara but have maintained his support for Okowa’s reelection bid.
During the PDP campaign flag off, Ibori was said to have reaffirmed his endorsement of Governor Okowa, saying the governor deserved another term having “done very well” in the spirit of power rotation in the state
It was not clear however if the former governor was also supporting the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku but BigPen Online could recalled that last year, Ibori tacitly threw his weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid when he released an article, arguing that age has got nothing to do with leadership.
This came at a time the PDP where Ibori belongs was mounting strong opposition against Buhari over his age and leadership style.
But the former Governor whose position didn’t tally with his party’s stance, in his article argued in favour of Buhari, 75, saying leadership failure is not restricted to political leadership but across all sections of society including those that are by nature exclusive to the youth.
