BREAKING! Delta Assembly Approves N11bn For Okowa For Payment Of Major Contractors

The Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday, approved the request of the State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for the authorization of the defrayment of Outstanding Payment to Major Road Contractors using Certificate Discount Facilities

The request for the N11billion for the payment of major roads contractors in the State was contained in a letter from the Governor and read at plenary by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

The House unanimously approved the request after deliberations on it.

Meanwhile, the plenary on Wednesday, also approved the Delta State Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP 2019-2021) as requested by the Governor in a letter to the House.

Okowa in the letter read by the Speaker said: “I wish to respectfully inform the Right Honourable Speaker and Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly that in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Law and the State’s desire to ensure appropriate financial management/allocation of the scarce resources, and in line with international best practices, the Ministry of Economic Planning has prepared the 2019-2021 Delta State Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP). This is the fourth rolling edition of the Strategy Paper”.
