Bloody Shootout Mars NANS Election In Delta,  Many Injured, Arrested

Pandemonium broke out at the venue of the election of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS (Delta Zone) on Saturday in Warri, Delta State as students wield guns and other dangerous weapona against themselves.

BigPen Online learnt that by the time the dust the free- for- all- fight gathered settled, several students have been injured and hospitalised.

Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, when contacted on the development said he was driving when confronted with the issue and asked reporters to send him text message. He, however responded late Saturday by saying the students were arrested for break down of law and order.

Although the remote cause of the violence was still sketchy at the time of filing this report, policemen who were drafted to Dom-Domingos College, venue of the election shot to disperse the violent students who attacked each other with dangerous weapons like guns, battle axe, bottles, daggers and others.

Eyewitness says police whisked some of the students away from the venue in a NANS Official bus before arresting a few others.

The source added that the battle between the students was so fierce as it caused serious fear amongst motorists along Edjeba road in the metropolis.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mohammad Mustafa later confirmed the incident but said the arrested students were in possession of charms.
