All Progressive Congress (APC) leader in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has declared that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa didn’t prepare to conduct local government election in the state, insisting that what Delta state Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) did today (Saturday) was just a PDP jamboree.

Emerhor who addressed newsmen in Enwreni, his country home which was besieged by hundreds of APC faithfuls who protested their inability to participate in the election, said that Governor Okowa has proved to the whole country that he is a total failure.

According to him, he was unable to vote in the supposed election because the governor decided to disenfranchised him and others by manipulating the electoral commission which fraudulently manipulated the conduct of the polls.

Emerhor said that instead of deceiving the people of Delta state, Okowa could have constitute caretaker committee for the councils, maintaining that what the PDP-led government did what reappointment of committees for the councils.

He said that there was no electoral exercise in the whole of Ughelli South and North Council Area and other part of the state, reiterating that what the ruling party, PDP claims as election was a sham and jamboree.

“There was no election in Ughelli North. The same thing that happened in Ughelli North is the same thing that happened all over. We are calling for the outright cancellation of the election. There were no sensitive materials anywhere so how do you call that an election.

“I can confidently tell you that the strategy of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was not to conduct elections in the state.

“It was clear that the PDP are afraid that they are not going to win the election.

“I am sure that you witnessed what happened here in Ughelli North where the DSIEC office was burned down.

“The same story you hear here is the same story everywhere. No government should deceive the people and pretend to be conducting an election.

“I hear now ( as at 3: 45pm) that some PDP members are in Oharisi Primary school pretending to be conducting elections, taking pictures and posting on social media If you go round Ughelli North, there is no election going in any of the communities.

“There was no election in Delta state. The PDP government in Delta State is acting with impunity because they are the ones that constituted the DSIEC board.

“They can go ahead to announce any result. But all we know is that we will not accept any result they will announce.

“There was no election so therefore we will not accept anybody that they will swear in as the winner”, he declared.

In the same vein, APC Chairmanship candidate in Uvwie, Ufuoma Okenini vehemently rejected the supposed election in the council area, saying that he will reject anything short of outright cancellation.

He alleged that soldiers were deployed to intimidate eligible voters in Uvwie council area, saying that in most places PDP youths intimidated eligible voter.

While describing the electoral exercise as a sham, he called on the APC-led federal government to be aware of what Governor Okowa has decided to turn electoral processes into.

“PDP played a game. What they did was to withheld the result sheets because they know if they allow all the materials to the polling unit, they will fail hands down.

“It is a shame for PDP that taunt itself as ruling party to resort to hijacking of the process. This only show PDP government has failed and it show Governor Okowa government has failed the people.

“Legally, we will challenge the election and the entire process because election didn’t hold in anywhere in Uvwie. In a situation where materials were taken to polling unit without result sheets is unacceptable to us”, he added.

BigPen Online had report that the election was characterized by violence and voters apathy in most of the councils visited, particularly in Delta Central Senatorial District and Delta North Senatorial District.
