Gas Cylinder Explosion Destroyed Properties Worth Millions In Delta Community

Properties worth millions was on Saturday destroyed in Olomoro community, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State following a domestic gas cylinder explosion which razed residential buildings.

Local source said that the inferno which could not be contailed as a result of absence of fire fighters, razed down a building opposite Olomoro main market.

The source said that efforts of those who ran to the scene to help the residents couldn’t save the building which was completely burnt.

Eyewitness said that shops attached to the building was also affected by the fire which left a family with nothing except the clothes they were wearing when the incident happened.

An indigene of area, Orerue Emonena who confirmed the development in a post on his facebook page said that the fire gutted the building opposite Olomoro main market, saying, “local fire quenchers have tried their best in putting off the fire but all their efforts prove abortive.Properties worth millions of naira was destroyed”, he said.

Another resident Anthony Ukpagba said: “The complete house was raised down, it is pathetic. Both the owner of the house and the owner of the shop are seriously in pains, they need help because as at the time I left the scene they both have no clothes to wear, they also don’t have any place to sleep”.
