“Libya Slave Trade Is A Slap On Nigerians” Saraki Fumes, Charge FG To Take Action

The ongoing slave trade in Libya has attracted attention from people all over the world with everyone condemning it in its entirety.

Senate President, Bukola  Saraki had lend his voice against this ongoing menace, saying it is a slap to Nigerians.

Saraki stated this after Kaka Baba Bashir, Senator representing Borno Central presented a motion to the house on the urgent need to protect Nigerian citizens from being sold into slavery.

“Libya slave trade is a slap on us all if a state like Ivory Coast is taking steps to address this act when we have not done so, Saraki said.

The senator, Kaka Baba Bashir who moved the motion described this heinous act as a “sickening crime against humanity”.

According to him, “This is a humiliation not to just Nigeria and Africa as a whole but also to human civilization and the fundamental principles of human rights under the United Nations Charter.

“Other African Countries such as Ivory coast have taken steps to protect their citizens from these despicable acts and bring them back home”.

Meanwhile, Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa has joined other organizations around the world to condemn the human trafficking and slave trade of Nigerians and other African countries in Libya.

According to THISDAY, the movement is working with the law enforcement agencies to get approval to lead a peaceful protest to the National Assembly and the Libyan embassy.
