Delta 2019: APC Chieftain, Egbo Rejects Offer by Okowa Men To Return To PDP

Jaro Egbo
A move by political associate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to woo an All Progressives Congress strong man, Olorogun Jaro Egbo back to the Peoples Democratic Party as 2019 governorship elections approaches, has been turned down, BigPen Online can report.
Egbo, who decamped from PDP to APC just after President Goodluck Jonathan surprised 2015 presidential election defeat alongside an Itsekiri youth leader, Chief Ayirimi Emami, said he can’t afford to return to “Egypt” (referring to PDP) where he left for the “promise land” (APC).
A former political opposition leader in Ethiope West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party and ardent supporter of Governor Okowa, who is championing the reconciliation moves, Chief Duncan Oghenochuko Eghweree had pleaded with Egbo to heed the calls for his return to PDP saying that there was no future in the APC where he had sojourned.
Eghweree in on open letter to Egbo posted on Facebook, gave a graphic details of how Egbo at a time, when he (Eghweree) held sway as opposition leader lured him back to PDP fold despite the fact he was ill treated by the power-that-be.
He said that APC has no future or structure in Delta State, urging Egbo not to waste his political career in APC, rather return to PDP where he is known as a mobiliser and would be accorded his due place in the party.
“I address this letter to you through the press to return to the same house we all built together.
“Because come to think of it, who did you met there when you left your beautiful house (PDP)? I am tempted to say nobody…..
Eghwere said that Egbo would only continue to remain a “national messenger” in the APC family and not a grassroots politician, pointing that APC and its leaders are ill prepared to take up governance when the chips are down.
“You can be so influential in national politics, but once the grassroots are not there, you become a national messenger. That is the major implication!
“Those political opposition leaders over whose causes you struggle today are ill prepared to take up any challenge when the real political struggles starts.
“Some of them will not have the heart to execute political plans if you draw up one. So what are we talking about?
He, therefore, called on Egbo to call off his journey with APC assuring him that the leadership of the PDP in the state led by Olorogun Kingsley Esiso would accord him his due place when he eventually make up his mind to return.
Eghweree said that he was head bent on ensuring Egbos return to the PDP as 2019 approaches to make things work well for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
But Egbo in a terse reply posted on the Facebook trend, swiftly rejected the offer saying he is done with the PDP.
He wrote: “My big bros and dear in-law, Olorogun Ewhere D Oghenochuko …I have left Egypt to the promised Land no looking back..Thanks all the same for ur love and concern”.
