Ex-Delta Speaker, Omatsone Begs Itsekiris To Nominate Him For Senate Seat
A former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. J.F. Kent Omatsone has pleaded that he be nominated to contest the coveted position on behalf of the Itsekiri nation.
Omatsone urged Itsekiri people to present a credible, competent, committed and trusted son of Iwereland like himself to represent the people in red chamber come 2019.
The Delta South Senatorial hopeful who is seeking to run under the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stated that his experience as former Speaker of the vibrant and complex Delta House of Assembly eminently qualifies for the position without prejudice to his wonderful contribution to the growth and development of Iwereland in the course of representing the people at the state level.
The PDP aspirant made this appeal when he visited a key PDP chieftain in the State and former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara and the Executive Secretary of the Olu-in-Council, Chief Kofi Edomi Kartey at their residences in Warri, Weekend.
He said that the appeal has become necessary in view of the numbers of Itsekiri aspiring for the position and the need to present a credible, competent, committed and trusted son of Iwereland.
According to him, now that it is the turn of the Itsekiri nation to represent the Delta South in the Red Chamber it will be wise if they present only one candidate to face other contestants from other parties and ethnic nationalities even as he called for a thorough scrutiny of all the aspirants to determine who the nation should put forward.
In his brief response, Dr. Otumara, like Chief Kofy Kartey charged the aspirant to continue his consultation with all relevant stakeholders and prayed for him to realize his political dream.
