Isoko South Boss Lauds NYSC-Initiated Inaugural SDGs Competition for Students

The chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri has applauded the inaugural Sustainable Development Goal competition, organized by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the council area.

The programme christened ‘Isoko South Inter-School Debate and Quiz Competition’, was initiated by corpers serving in the council area as part of their Community Development Service (CDS) in collaboration with the Blessing Obomovo Foundation and the office of the chairman.

The programme tailored to promote academic excellence and civic engagement among young minds, saw participants showcasing impressive display of knowledge, intellectual prowess, and critical thinking.

The thrilling event, featured students from several secondary schools across the Local Government Area competing for academic excellence, and were awarded with unique prizes both for the winners and participants.

Held at the Otobo hall within the Isoko South Local Government Secretariat, the event featured 17 secondary schools competing in various subjects, ranging from general knowledge to mathematics, science, current affairs, and social studies.

In his remarks, the council chairmen, expressed pride in the success of the inaugural quiz and debate competition, commending students for their enthusiasm and academic prowess.

He said that Delta State is presently in a new public school era under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori marked by qualitative education and academic excellence.

Warri, who expressed confidence in the excellent performance of the students, urged them to start preparing for additional competitions in the upcoming year.

He reiterated that the competition’s objective was to foster a culture of academic excellence while laying the groundwork for future leadership roles among young minds.

In the quiz competition, Otobosa Memorial School, Oleh, secured first position, while St. Michael College, Oleh, and Our Lady of Visitation Academy, Oleh, secured second and third place, respectively, following a tiebreaker.

Our Lady of Visitation Academy, Oleh, attained the top position in the debate, while Enhwe Comprehensive High School, Enhwe, and Divine Vision School, Ogbemudia-Oleh, secured the second and third positions, respectively.
