Okowa Congratulates Oborevwori On Lawmaker Of The Year Award

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has congratulated the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his conferment with the Lawmaker-Of-The-Year Award at the Independent Nigerian Parlia­mentary Excellence Awards.

The award, which was organised by the Daily Independent Newspapers Limited in association with African Consolidated Analytical Limited (ACAL), was presented to Oborevwori on Wednesday at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, Okowa recalled with gratitude, the Speaker’s sagacity and astute leadership of the legislature, especially the diligent creation of a harmonious atmosphere for debates and exchange of ideas in the interest of the state.

He described Oborevwori as a dependable ally in his administration’s Stronger Delta vision and lauded his outstanding contributions to nation-building.

The governor noted that Oborevwori’s patriotism, humility and commitment as head of the 7th Assembly in the state, stood him out deservedly, for the lawmaker-of-the-year award in the entire country.

He expressed grateful to God for the healthy relationship among the three arms of government in the state and prayed God for more wisdom as they journey together to bequeath a Stronger Delta to the people.

He said, “On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta, I congratulate you, Mr Speaker, a party stalwart and leader of great value, Rt. Hon. Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, as you are conferred with the Lawmaker-Of-The-Year award by Daily Independent Newspapers Limited.

“Mr Speaker, your indefatigable role in the passing of crucial Bills in the State Assembly no doubt places out parliament under your leadership as one of the most vibrant and productive in the country.

“By all standards, you have made your mark in the legislature and I am glad that you have used your privileged position to render quality service to our great state and humanity.

“I remain proud of the lofty accomplishments you and your colleagues achieved so far in terms of passing people-oriented Bills and Resolutions for good governance and growth of our state.

“As you deservedly celebrate this award, it is my prayer that Almighty God continues to bless you with robust health and many more achievements.”
