Family Demands Justice as Gunmen Reportedly Kill Hunter in Delta

The family of Festus Oterhe and Uwhubetin3 Oterhe (Nee Edariese) in Delta State, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police demanding justice over the alleged killing of 31-year-old Lucky Omole in Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the State.

The deceased was reportedly shot dead by yet-to-be identified gunmen while returning from a hunting expedition.

The incident occurred on 30th June,.2026.

The victim, a son of late Festus Oterhe was said to have died at the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area where he was rushed to.

His remains has since been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Otu-Jeremi town.

The family said that the deceased who resident is at Ogbe Street, Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu was allegedly attacked and shot dead in the presence of others who were returning from hunting with him.

The Head of Edariese Family Worldwide, Olorogun Amrevuawho Peter Edariese confirmed this in a petitioned addressed to Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Otu-Jeremi over the dastard act.

Edariese who is a former Chairman of the Delta State Branch of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, (CDHR) noted that until the demise, the deceased hired an apartment in Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu Community where he resided.

He pointed out that the late Lucky does not live in Oviri-Olomu Community.

“He was never a cultist and did not take part in the alleged cult crisis which took place on 28th June 2026.

“He was attacked in the main street of Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu where heives among people and before their eyes and those of the persons who went to the hunting with him who are alive and can be reached to give their evidence as to what happened on the said 30th June 2026.”

According to Edariese, “This case is clear case of murder and a crime against the Nigerian State which calls for unbiased and thorough investigation to unravel the mysteries surrounding it to bring the perpetrators to booom to safeguard the lives of citizens.

“I trust in your abilities to order full and thorough investigations into the matter to allow the course of justice to prevail and bring peace to law abiding citizens of our dear community and the country at large.”

He also said some persons who parade themselves as leaders of the community were the ones who allegedly gave arms to those who shot and killed the victim.

He said, “this is not the first time such a dastard incident had taken place in Oviri-Olomu Community. They’ve done it to the Edariese Efejama family wherein Olorogun A.P. Edariese is the head of the family.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe was yet to respond to a message sent to him via WhatsApp as at when this story was filled.
