Birthday: Ogorugba Fates Widows with Gifts to Mark Special Day

The chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, Sunday presented cash and wrapper gifts to selected widows in his Otor-Igho community.

Ogorugba presented the gifts during a modest birthday celebration held at his Otor-Igho country home, where he hosted widows and members of selected political and social groups, including Ogorugba Outstanding Ladies, Isoko Global Initiatives, and Otor-Igho Community of Friends.

Speaking during the event, the council chairman explained that, the decision to keep the celebration simple was deliberate saying aside from informing the widows and his political pressure groups, no formal invitations were extended, as he did not want to inconvenience leaders who had recently attended other engagements. He, however, expressed deep appreciation for the goodwill messages and prayers received.

“This year, I chose to celebrate my birthday in a very quiet way. No formal invitations were sent out, except to the women and my political pressure groups,” he said.

The Chairman also noted that the outreach to widows could not cover everyone, as it was targeted at selected elderly widows as an expanded one was done during the festive period.

He thanked God for the gift of life and for sustaining him and his family.
