The people of Otor Igho community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, have passed a vote of confidence on the council chairman, Godwin Ogorugba over what they described as exemplary leadership.

The community also commended Ogorugba over his developmental strides across the local government since inception of office as the council chairman.

The confidence vote and commendation were given on Friday during the 2025 Biennial Delegates Conference of the Otor Igho Community Development Union, held at the community town hall with the council chairman, an illustrious son of the community and other notable leaders in attendance.

Speaking on behalf of the community, former President General, Peter Onaibre, who explained that Ogorugba who was warmly commended by the entire Otor Igho community for his timely intervention in key community projects that had suffered years of neglect in the community, recalled that there had been many unsuccessful efforts made in the past to attract government attention to the town hall upgrade and abandoned cottage hospital project.

Onaibre noted that the recent approval for the completion of the hospital by the Isoko North Local Government Executive Council, as well as the upgrade of the community town hall, marked a turning point for Otor Igho.

“For several years, we made repeated attempts as a community to see the Cottage Hospital completed, but all efforts failed. With Hon. Ogorugba, the story is different today. This town hall is now conducive for our activities because of his intervention, and we must sincerely commend him for what he has done for us.”

In his response, the chairman of Isoko North, Godwin Ogorugba said he could not allow such an important project as the cottage hospital to continue to waste away, stressing that his intervention was aimed at ensuring the facility is completed and fully put to use for the benefit of the people.

On security, the council chairman appealed to community leaders to take the issue seriously, noting that while he remains the chief security officer of the local government, security is a collective responsibility that requires active participation at the community level.

While calling for unity among all indigenes of Otor Igho community , Ogorugba urged those who have taken the community to court to withdraw their cases and embrace an out-of-court settlement in the interest of peace and development, adding that no meaningful development can take place in atmosphere of rancour.
