Delta Police Arrest Justice Ifeoma Okogwu’s Security Guard, Accomplice Over Her Murder

Late Justice Ifeoma Okogwu’s security guard who reportedly fled her residence in Asaba, Delta State, after her murder, has been arrested by the operative of homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Delta State Police command.

The security guard was arrested in Anambra State alongside one of his accomplice on Saturday December 6, 2025.

One other suspect fingered in the attack is still at large.

Confirming this in a statement on Sunday, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe said; “operative of homicide section of State CID, acting on intelligence has arrested one Godwin Mngumi aged 25 years, the security who allegedly murdered Justice Ifeoma Okogwu (Rtd) in Anambra State and the phone of the late RTD justice has also been recovered from him”.

According to him, the suspect confessed that he invited his friend one Nnaji Obalum and one other suspect at large over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together. Nnaji Obalum has also been arrested while the manhunt for the third suspect is ongoing.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) had reported that Justice Okogwu was found dead in her apartment after her brother made a complaint on the 24th of November 2025, to the Divisional Police Officer (‘A’ Division Asaba) that he visited her residence only to discover her lifeless body in the sitting room with her hands, legs and mouth tied.

Edafe had said that upon receipt of the complaint, the DPO swiftly led men to her residence, where the corpse was evacuated and taken to the mortuary for autopsy.

He said that one suspect, Lucky Matthew, was arrested, while the principal suspect, “Godwin Vanem”, is presently at large.

On the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, he said that the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (Homicide section) for discreet investigation.

According to him, “preliminary investigation revealed that the said Godwin Vanem is suspected of having committed the dastardly act and fled the apartment. The command has launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspect”.
