A student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, simply identified as Egwolo, has been reported found dead at a hotel in Koko, Warri North local government area of the state.

The deceased who is said to be in her early twenties and hailed from Owahwa village in Ughelli South Local Government Area, was allegedly murdered in the said hotel.

There are speculations that the teenage girl was headless when her lifeless body was found.

But the Public Enlightenment Officer, Delta State Ministry of Information, told state Information Officer in the area, Temisan Boyo, that contrary to false reports circulating on social media, the deceased was stabbed to death, not beheaded, as earlier speculated.

One resident, who pleaded anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, described the incident as tragic.

“The deceased should be about twenty or twenty-one years old. It is heartbreaking that such a young life was cut short. I only pray that those behind this wicked act are brought to justice,” the source said.

Another resident, identified as MoG, alleged that the deceased was invited to Koko by her supposed “sugar daddy,” who allegedly owns both a transportation company and the hotel where the incident occurred.

According to him, the man reportedly spent some time with the victim upon her arrival before returning to his residence in the same town.

“We heard that when he went back to check on her the next morning, he met her lying lifeless in a pool of blood with a stab wound on her neck,” MoG recounted.

Further details from another anonymous source revealed that the hotel receptionist on duty allegedly fled the premises after his employer discovered the gruesome scene.

Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Koko Division, Lukman Olaogun, told the state Information Officer: “Investigation is in progress on the case, madam. We assure you that justice will speak soon.”

As at the time of filing this report, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Koko General Hospital mortuary, while police investigations continue.
