Police Nabs Native Doctor with 2 Pump Action Guns in Delta

A 47-year-,old native doctor identified as Okonji Chimeze, has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command with two automatic pump-action guns and cutlass concealed inside the ceiling of his house in Umuehe Quarter Ibusa, near Asaba, the state capital.

The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, whom following an investigation conducted against him and acting on the credible intelligence, were said to have stormed the suspect’s residence at Ibusa on June 14.

Confirming this on Tuesday, in a statement, State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, said that a search Warrant was executed in the premises of the suspect during which two automatic pump-action guns and one cutlass were recovered hidden inside the ceiling of the suspect’s room.

He said that the suspect and exhibits in custody as the investigation is ongoing.

In a related development, Edafe said that operatives of the Eagle-Net Surveillance Team of the Command had on June 18, stationed at Ughelli North LGA, while on Routine stop and search duty along Otokutu Bridge, near Warri, also intercepted a black Toyota Corolla car with registration number RSH 90 RC and arrested 27-year-old Telvin Richmond of Opete by Otokutu and 26-year-old Frank Obiorah of the same address.

Telvin and the suspects were subjected to a thorough search, in which a locally made cut-to-size gun, two (2) yellow hand-bands inscribed with NBM “neo black movement”, one battle axe and a wooden pistol, all concealed inside the compartment of the vehicle doors were recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of the Aiye confraternity, and he bought the gun in the year 2024 for the sum of eighty-seven thousand naira from another suspect presently at large. Suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing”, Edafe added.
