Four suspected kidnappers have met their wayerloo after a gun battle with operatives of Delta State Police Command even as the police arrested cultists and armed robbers, and recovered several firearms in the state.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this in a statement issued on March 17, 2025, said that operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) had been tracking a notorious kidnap gang, which led to a fierce gun duel along the railway line in Agbarho.

Unfortunately, four suspected kidnappers sustained serious gunshot injuries and later succumbed to their wounds. One AK-47 rifle with one magazine was recovered from the scene.

“The suspect during interrogation revealed the location where the rifle was hidden. The operatives stormed the bush along the railway line in Agbarho where the gang members upon sighting the Police engaged the team in a fierce gun duel, during which four suspected kidnappers sustained serious gunshot injuries”, he said.

“The injured suspects were taken to the general hospital Ughelli for treatment but were later confirmed dead by the doctor. Corpses have been deposited at the hospital morgue while the effort to trail and arrest the fleeing hoodlums is ongoing”.

In a separate operation, the police arrested a suspected kidnapper, Abdulahi Isah, in Ibusa. The suspect was identified by a victim’s relative, who had delivered ransom and food items to the kidnappers.

Furthermore, the CP-SAT operatives carried out a sting operation in Agbogidi, Warri South, and arrested two suspected cultists, Gideon Sunday and Godstime Solomon.

“The suspect was riding a tricycle alongside his gang member One Godstime Solomon aged 27yrs and upon search of the tricycle, a locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live cartridges wrapped in a polythene bag and concealed in the engine compartment of the tricycle was recovered”, he said.
