Lasting Legacy

Administrator of the Presidential amnesty Program, Dr. Dennis Otuaro will leave a lasting legacy, paramount traditional ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, King Monday Whiskey (PhD), Udurhie I, has assured the people of the Niger Delta region.

The monarch who was a professional practicing journalist before he was crown, gave the assurance on Tuesday at his palace in Idjerhe while chatting with some journalists, saying that Otuaro will deliver on his mandate with his experience and exposure in the struggle.

According to him, “I have every reason to believe that he has the capacity, knowledge to achieve great success. Do not forget that he was a foot soldier during the struggle.

“So all those who are petitioning, writing against him are rabble rousers. He’s barely six months in that office, what magic are they expecting him to have done in six months?

“I am following him up closely, you know, I will not pretend if he’s not working. I will tell him to his face. I know Otuaro will achieve, he wants to leave a legacy.

“He’s redirecting that agency, the amnesty office is not a money making venture. It is a venture that was specifically put in place to address the grievances of former agitators. So if some persons were benefiting 20 times and others are not benefiting, he has the right, authority and the mandate to correct such anomalies.

“I think that is exactly what he’s doing. So for those who are protesting and petitioning him, every message they are passing to the President today is ill conceived, ill motivated, and selfish.

“Of course he will step on toes as he will correct some very dangerous precedents that have been set. There were people who do not know where Niger Delta was but were benefiting from the amnesty, those are things he’s correcting.

“Those who have grievances against Otuaro should approach the traditional institutions, which is why we are here for you to talk to. We are the natural leaders and head of the kingdoms where these youth come from.

“So I use this medium to call on Mr President to give all necessary support to Otuaro to enable him reposition and redirect the Presidential amnesty office. Those who were there started pursuing irrelevancy and leaving the very relevant things.

“So I wish him very well. He should not be deterred. Of course, he knows that they will attack him. He’s just like a mango tree that has fruit. People will throw stones at him. so he should not be bothered”, he added.
