“NEC cautions candidates.for the forthcoming election and their supporters against campaign of calumny and unnecessary attacks on the leadership of the union in the name of campaign, just as it urges them to embark on issue based campaigns.

“NEC in session also approved the 16th November date for the conduct of Benue council election which will formally end the protracted crisis in the council.

According to the Communique,”NEC In session worried over the persistent rise in inflation and prolonged economic downturn, urging the Federal Government to adopt more drastic and realistic measures to address the ugly situation that has made life difficult for citizens.

“It also expressed dismay over the failure to pay the October salary of some federal workers including Radio Nigeria, describing such development as unacceptable considering the effect on the workers who are already been dealt with by the harsh economy.

“NEC extends its heartfelt condolences to the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army on the demise of the Chief of Army Staff, the late General Taoreed Lagbaja.”
