Police Arrest “General”, Four Others, Kill Two Hoodlums During Exchange In Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspected cultists including 34-year-old Eremoje Dudun Oritsedere, popularly known as “General” of Deghele community in Warri South West LGA Delta State.

The Delta CP – Special Assignment Team ( CP – SAT ) led by ASP Julius Robinson, also apprehended 29-year-old Emmanuel Irhurhu, Godstime Jacob (25), Ighene Jefrry (29), Iboyi Gain (33) of Mosogar community in Ethiope West local government area.

The five suspects were arrested on November 4, 2024, in Oton community and Sapele town.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe who disclosed this, said that the suspects, allegedly members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, were arrested based on confessions made by an earlier arrested suspect, Philip Okunumah (28), aka “G3” of Jesse in Ethiope West LGA Delta State who confessed to a series of cult-related killings.

He said that a Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition and an abandoned Toyota Corolla with Reg No KWL 635 BU were recovered during the operation.

Edafe disclosed that on October 28, 2024, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), also engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun duel along Ewheru-Patani Road, Ughelli LGA, recovering one AK-47 rifle loaded with six rounds of live ammunition and one Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition.

He said that during the operation at the hideout of the suspects, they were ambushed by the suspected hoodlums, but “the team engaged them in a fierce gun duel during which two of the suspects sustained bullet injuries”.

The suspects were allegedly responsible for terrorizing Warri-Sapele road and some killings in Oghara and Ughelli.

“The injured suspects were taken to General Hospital Ughelli for medical attention but were later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Investigation is ongoing”, Edafe said.

He said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has urged parents and guardians to discourage their children from cult-related activities and advised the public to report suspicious persons or movements.
