Delta Council Boss Presents N2.2Billion Supplementary Budget To Legislative Arm

The chairman of Isoko-South Local Government Area of Delta state, Chairman, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri has presented a supplementary budget of N2,002,754,703.36 for the year 2024 to the legislative arm for consideration and approval.

Presenting the budget to the councilors during their sitting session presided over by the leader of legislative arm, Friday Olokor, the council chairman said his major priority is to run a transparent and inclusive administration that will give room for infrastructural development.

He said that his administration would give priority attention to education, health, agricultural resuscitation as well as programmes lined up to enhance women and youth development and empowerment.

According to Warri, “We came into office barely some few months ago and met a great need to have a supplementary budget to caretake for most of the needs in Isoko South, hence we, from the executive arm, deemed it fit that if we should spend outside the yearly fiscal budget there will be severe consequences and we don’t want to fall victim that’s why we are here today to present a supplementary budget for the year 2024”.

Leader of the Isoko South legislative arm, Friday Olokor who received the budget, said that the 8th Isoko South legislative arm will look into the budget and expedite action about its passage.

He, however thanked the chairman and his Exco for approving the supply of new furnitures to the legislative arm and assured him of the support of the councillors in achieving his administration’s agenda in line with governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “MORE AGENDA”.

Among those who accompanied The chairman to the Legislative chamber include the vice chairperson, Theresa Ikrike, Special Adviser to the council chairman, Hon. Chief. Efe Okolosi-Ozoro, Exco recorder, Chief Raphael Onowotu, HPM, Mrs M.I. Ofogboro, HOD budget, Mrs. B.M. Okoro, Supervising councillor for Agriculture, Goodluck Abedi.

Meanwhile, the council chairman, has cautioned youths to refrain from intake of hard and illicit drugs and do things that would better their lives.

He gave the charge when he received on courtesy visit to his office on Monday, the members of Isoko National Youth Congress, led by the President, Abel Edigbe.

Speaking, the council boss, Comrade Warri, admonished youths to stand firm against peer pressure and refrain from being involve in illicit substances intake. He urged youths to set boundaries with friends who encourage harmful and illicit drug related behaviours.

“Through collaborative efforts, we must reject drug abuse, acknowledging that our shared commitment will shape the destiny of our community, where each person contributes to the creation of a society free from substance abuse.

“Combating drug abuse necessitates a collaborative effort beyond governmental intervention, requiring synchronized involvement from various societal stakeholders, including parents, educators, healthcare professionals, community leaders, the private sector, and every individual present in this room.” the chairman admonished.
