Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District, has urged the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engineer Chukwuemeka Agbasi to address the deplorable state of the Lagos-Asaba Expressway, specifically the Alifekide to Asaba Bridge End stretch.

Senator Nwoko made the call during a meeting with the FERMA MD, on Tuesday, pointing out that the section of the road has become hazardous, resulting in numerous fatalities and endangering lives and properties.

Nwoko stressed the urgent need for attention, saying that he also spoke with Minister of Works David Umahi, who confirmed contractors would be mobilized to the site without delay.

The meeting that held on Tuesday, September 24, followed the Senate’s resumption after its eight-week recess.

The Senator raised concerns about the deteriorating state of the Lagos-Asaba Expressway, specifically the stretch between Alifekide and Asaba Bridge End, which he said has become hazardous and has resulted in numerous fatalities.

Nwoko stressed that the road’s poor condition continues to endanger both lives and properties, affecting surrounding communities and road users.
