The Federal Government has placed human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and other sponsors of the recent #EndBadGovernance protest on a watchlist, according to the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and heads of security agencies.

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, confirmed that the agency had identified some diaspora sponsors of the protest and had placed them on a watchlist. She stated that they would be arrested if they attempted to enter the country.

“Any attempt they make to come into the country, we will be notified and they will be picked up and handed to appropriate authority”, Comptroller General of NIS, Kemi Nandap, said.

A senior immigration officer revealed that Sowore was among those on the watchlist. The NIS has deployed more officers to borders and airports to prevent foreign intervention in the country.

The Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, said the service was monitoring those concerned and had blocked some bank accounts.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, also confirmed that some sponsors had been uncovered and their accounts blocked.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, stated that the military and security agencies would only go after those bent on destabilizing the nation’s democratic elected government.

“We are only after those that are against the state, not those that are innocent.”, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Musa, said.

He emphasized that the military was people-centric and not interested in prosecuting innocent individuals.

The Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, said the army was committed to combating terrorism and banditry, while the Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla, vowed that the Nigerian Navy would not sit back and watch subversive elements take over the country.

“The Nigerian Navy will not sit back to watch these subversive elements take over our commonwealth.

“We will do all that is required within the ambits of the law to show them they have no place in our society”, Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla, said.

The security chiefs assured Nigerians of their commitment to peace, security, and democracy, and warned against foreign intervention and unconstitutional change of government.
