Kidnapping, Armed Robbery: “Small Juju“, A Notorious ‘Cultist’, 2 Others Arrested In Delta
The police in Delta state, has arrested one Emmanuel John Aisewowhion, a 34-year-old suspected armed robber and cultist, with a Beretta pistol.
The command’s special squad deployed to Ughelli, acting on revelations by some suspects earlier arrested in connection to kidnapping and cultism had trailed the suspect to his residence.
Spokesman of the Delta Police Command, SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this, said that investigation revealed that the suspect, a member of the Eiye confraternity, acquired the gun from a suspected gun runner already in custody.
He said that the suspect popularly known as “Small Juju“, a native of Ewohimi community Esan-South East LGA of Edo State, but resides at Uwagba Community in Okpe LGA, Delta State, was apprehended on May 24, by the special team led by ASP Julius Robinson.
“One Beretta pistol was recovered from his house and investigation further revealed that he is a member of Eiye confraternity and he got the gun from one Goodluck Sakutu, a suspected gun runner already in custody.
He said that manhunt has been launched to arrest other members of his gang.
This is coming as one Philips Omomedia, a 37-year-old suspected cultist, was also arrested with an automatic pump action gun and 15 live cartridges.
The police said the suspect is a member of the Aro-Bagar confraternity and suspected to be involved in cult-related killings.
The suspect, a native of Onogo-Vor community in Ethiope West LGA Oghara, was picked up at Oghara town with one Automatic Double Barrel gun with 15 live cartridges.
In the same vein, on May 26, a combined patrol team of policemen of the division and federal hunters who were deployed on a crime prevention patrol while on stop and search duty along Oputu road Orhowurun community in Udu LGA, arrested one Christopher Semede, a 33-year-old suspected armed robber with a locally made double barrel pistol.
Edafe said that during the stop and search, a motorcycle carrying one passenger was flagged down for a routine search but the suspect refused to stop and the team chased them, during which the suspect was arrested.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has commended the officers involved in the operations and urged youths to shun all forms of crime, particularly cultism, which has negative consequences for the security of the state.
He assured residents that the command will continue to identify, arrest, and prosecute suspects “until Delta State is free from all forms of criminality”.
