Delta Guber: Edevbie’s Group Disowns Purported Endorsement Of Oborevwori, Says Propagandists At Work

The Delta Unity Group (DUG), a pressure group supporting Olorogun David Edevbie’s aspirations, has disowned Edevbie’s alleged support for Rt Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori, the PDP Delta state governorship candidate.
This comes in the wake of rumours that Edevbie had sent someone to “wedge kola” for him at a PDP event held at his country home in Afiesere.
According to an earlier report by BIGPEN NIGERIA (www.bigpenngr.com), Edevbie, who came in second place in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Delta, has stepped up his efforts to sack Oborevwori through legal means.
Oborevwori’s eligibility as a PDP governorship candidate is being contested by Edevbie, who was added as the fourth defendant in the lawsuit with the case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1857/2022 filed at a Federal High Court in Abuja between Chief Ikie Aghwarianovwe, the plaintiff, and the Peoples Democratic Party, Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, who are the first through third defendant
The alleged endorsement, which is being promoted by Oborevwori’s political camp, was discredited by Rt. Honourable Peter Onwusanya, a former state House of Assembly speaker and national chairman of the DUG, who referred to it as an “evil orchestration”.
Onwusanya dismissed the claims as handiwork of propagandists during the flagged off of sensitisation and mobilisation of the grassroots across the State ahead of the 2023 elections.
According to him, the rumoured endorsement of Oborevwori that is making the rounds is a carefully crafted lie intended to mislead the discerning public.
The PDP leader said that Edevbie had never ordered anyone to “wedge kola” or represent him at the ceremony in question.
Describing the story as “evil propaganda,” he warned that rather than promote peace, some people are trying to fan issues that could cause an internal crisis within the party.
Onwusanya pleaded with the public and all DUG members to disregard the dubious goals and evil propaganda of those with questionable motives.
He said “Olorogun David Edevbie is a respected member of the PDP and has no personal issues with Sheriff or our vice presidential candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa. “At the right time, Olorogun David Edevbie will personally make a statement moving forward.”
The national chairman of the Edevbie’s group said that the sensitisation exercise of all the Wards flagged off in Ethiope West Local Government at Oghara, Monday, was tailored to enhance internal democracy in the PDP.
Onwusanya said, “The PDP constitution encourages us to carry out these duties, which enhance internal democracy and sustain our vice grip of governance in the State.”
Speaking further, he said: “Our presence here today is to interact with and encourage our members to enlighten the people at the grassroots to collect their PVCs and vote for our candidates at all the elections that will take place in 2023.”
Onwusanya added emphatically, “We are fully committed to the ideals of the PDP and we are playing complementary roles to ensure the party triumphs at the forthcoming elections.”
He exhorted members to mobilise the populace to get their PVCs and to remain unwavering in their commitment to the democratic ideals.
Onwusanya urged the DUG members and the local government in Sapele, Sapele Local Government, to continue their active participation in mobilising the electorate for the upcoming tasks.
He said: “We have a leader who formed the PDP in 1998 in Delta State. DUG is working and cannot be excluded in the affairs of the party,” adding that DUG is fortified to deliver during the forthcoming elections.
