Chukwuma Odii Ifeanyi Is Now Officially A PDP Guber Candidate For Ebonyi – Supreme Court

Published

on

The Peoples Democratic Party’s official candidate for governor of Ebonyi State in the 2023 elections, according to the Supreme Court, is Chukwuma Odii Ifeanyi.

The Supreme Court made its decision after declaring Joseph Obinna Ogba’s favoring judgment from the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal to be a nullity.

As a result, the Supreme Court’s five-judge panel, chaired by Justice Amina Augie, unanimously upheld Ifeanyi’s appeal as meritorious.

The lead judge, Justice Lawal Garba, ruled that Joseph Obinna Ogba’s purported notice of appeal, which was filed on June 17, 22, and gave rise to the lower court’s decision, was incompetent in law because it was filed without the court’s permission.

According to the apex court, anyone with an interest in a pre-election matter who wasn’t made a party to the proceedings should have requested the trial court’s permission to appeal as an interested party.

Justice Augie, who concurred with the lead judgment, set herself apart with her decision in the Ujogbo v. Abba Umaro case, which the lower court used as the basis for its ruling.
