A Niger Delta recalcitrant militant group, “The Movement for the Emancipation and the Defence of the Niger Delta” (MEND), has threatened to launch a deadly reprisal in the country if the faceless Fulani jihadist group pushed through their threat to attack Delta State.

BIGPENNGR reports that a yet-to-be identified group, which claimed responsibility for the last week fire incident that occurred at the Federal Secretariat complex along Okpanam Road in Asaba, Delta State capital, had on Sunday threatened to attack Asaba, the state capital, and Agbor, if Governor Ifeanyi Okowa does not withdraw his support for the ban on open grazing within 72 hours.

The unknown group claimed to have bombed the secretariat in Asaba earlier to pass a message to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to reverse his stance on open gazing ban.

But in a swift reaction to the threats which had since been countered by the police Command in Delta State, in a statement released Sunday night, MEND threatened to launch ten times reprisal if any attack comes from the so-called ‘Fulani Jihadists’.

“The attention of “The Movement for the Emancipation and the Defence of the Niger Delta” has been brought to the threat of some Fulani terrorists who have given a 3 days warning to the Governor of Delta State because of his support for the ban of open grazing across the Southern State.

“We also saw your taking responsibility for an explosion at the Secretariat in Asaba.

“We are warning that if your threat is made to come to fulfilment, No Fulani Fulani will ever exist across the Niger Delta and all oil facilities linked to a Fulani will be brought down. If one soul is lost, Ten Fulani souls will pay for it. If one Facility is destroyed, Ten Fulani facilities will be destroyed. We will respond proportionately ten times whatever you give, the corresponding response will not be limited to the Delta, It may be with your politicians or with your rulers.

“We will launch three rocket launchers and ballistic missiles at any facility of our choice as a warning in seven days if you make bold your threats.

“We don’t make cheap our threats. We have shutdown the country and we can at anytime shut you down. We are the Niger Delta, We stand for the interest of the Niger Delta and we will not allow any coward threaten us. We fight without running”, MEND warned.

BIGPENNGR recalls governors of the 17 southern states had at its meeting in Asaba recently banned open grazing of cattle in the region.

The ban dubbed “Asaba Declaration” had since became a controversial topic with its rejection by the Federal Government and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, who claimed the decision of the governors violates the rights of herdsmen to free movement.

President Muhammadu Buhari also rejected the position of the governors and ordered for the restoration of the grazing routes across the country in an interview last Friday.
