Rocket Salvos Launched At Governor Uzodinma’s Home In Imo

Unknown gunmen reportedly has razed the country home of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State at Omuma in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Unconfirmed reports have it tha the gunmen who were said to have came through the Oguta axis of the State at midnight, killed two yet to be identified security men at at Oguta junction before proceeding to the governor’s house at Omuma.
The source disclosed that the gunmen ripped off the governor’s gate with the aid of a rocket launcher before setting the house on fire.
According to Saturday Sun report Six policemen on guard at the governor’s residence was said to have been killed by the gunmen after their attack
Reports say the attack would have been monumental if not the swift response of the gallant security operatives who repelled the attack
But the act has in no doubt created heavy tension in the state.
According to eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent over the phone, the incident occured at about 9am today, Saturday, April 24th.
A group of hoodlums numbering about 15 driving in a motorcade of three vehicles accompanied by a tipper loaded with used tyres, stormed the country home of the governor in Omuma, Oru East LGA and attempted to burn down the house.
However, vigilant security operatives attached to the Governor’s house successfully repelled the attack and consequently minimised the damage they had planned to unleash.
The commissioner for information Mr Declan Emelumba in his press release noted that the governor has directed the relevant security agencies to expedite investigation on the incident and promptly apprehend the sponsors and their agents and bring them to justice.
