How Delta Police Dislogded AK-47 Wielding Hoodlums, Rescued Kidnap Victims, Foiled Assassination Attempt

More facts have emerged to how operatives of the Delta Police Command dislodged a gang of AK-47 wielding hoodlums who kidnapped six (6) passengers along Okutolo Warri-Sapele road, Delta State.

BIGPENNGR reports that the development is coming as the police in the state, also foiled an assasination attempt on one Chief Voke Oshasha in Ugheli.

State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Edafe Bright who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday said that the hoodlums were dislodged following intelligence gathering efforts of men and officers of the command.

He stated that despite the security challenges in the country at the moment, Delta state Command under the watch of CP Ari Muhammed Ali, is not relenting in its fight against criminals.

The Commissioner of police Delta state who has vowed that Delta state will be no place for criminals to operate will continue to take the battle to the den of criminals, the police spokesperson said.

According to him, On 03/04/2021 at about 1945hrs information got the DPO Orerokpe Division, that a Toyota Sienna bus with REG.NO. BWR 301 SU was under attacked by hoodlums armed with AK-47 rifles at Okutolo Warri-Sapele road.

He said that the armed bandits shot and injured the driver and a woman but other passengers were dragged into the bush.

Following the attack, the DPO SP Ojo Oluwole swiftly mobilized patrol teams, assisted by military patrol team to the scene and they went after the kidnappers into the forest.

“The men did not relent as they gave the kidnappers a hot chase, the hoodlums who could no longer withstand the pressure quickly abandon the kidnapped victims and fled.

“The patrol teams successfully rescued  the six (6) kidnapped passengers which includes Edoma Rita ‘f’, Evelyn Chinwekwe ‘f’, Believe Omoruyi ‘m’, Linus Kojo ‘m’, Idolo Christina ‘f’ and Ojemudia Esther ‘f’ an injured passenger was rushed to the hospital but was later confirmed dead on admission, her corpse and that of the driver were deposited in a mortuary.

“Expended shells of 7.62, 39mm ammunition were recovered from the scene  manhunt for the arrest of the  hoodlums is ongoing while the Commissioner of Police is appealing to members of the public to avail the police with any useful information that will help to arrest these hoodlums.

“Also on 3/4/2021 at about 1745 hours  a distress call was received by the DPO ‘A’ Division Ughelli from one Chief Voke Oshasha that he suspected a highlander jeep trailing him along Oniemo street.

“The Divisional police officer, CSP Benjamin Igometi swiftly led patrol teams to that area, the hoodlums on sighting the police patrol vehicle approaching them quickly abandon their mission to assassinate him and fled into the bush.

“However the victim sustained bullet wound but not life threatening the DPO quickly rushed him to hospital where he is responding to treatment, and he is completely out of danger. Investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, “On 04/04/2021 at about 2350hrs acting on credible information, intelligence gathering, police surveillance team of Orogun Division assisted by anti-cult group raided a notorious cult hideout at small market junction Orogun.

“Three (3) suspected members of arrow Barger confraternity, Aworo Efe ‘m’ 25yrs old Ogene Oghenedoro Obiobor ‘m’ 28yrs old great ‘m’ surname yet unknown  alias community 30yrs old were arrested. The teams were attacked by the cultists but  for the resilience by the surveillance team, the cultist were over powered. They are currently been interrrogated and have given information to the police that will lead to the arrest of other gang members.

“Parent and guardian are therefore advised to look after their wards and do all they can to discourage them from participating in cultism as this is the mother of virtually all crimes in the country today.
