The paramount ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM King O.M.A Whiskey, Odurhie 1, has commended the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, for the recent senate’s approval for the restoration of Ethiope West State Constituency 1 in Delta State.

The commendation was contained in a letter dated February 16, 2021 which the monarch personally signed and addressed to the deputy senate president and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

“I am writing at the behest of the good and peace loving people of Idjerhe Kingdom, the royal throne and the entire people therein. May I sincerely appreciate you for the hardwork and resilience you exerted which brought about the approval of Ethiope West State Constituency 1”, the monarch wrote.

He said that sequel to the adoption of a motion moved by the deputy senate president, the Senate on the 10th of February, 2021, finally approved the restoration of Ethiope West State Constituency 1 in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The revered monarch recalled how Honorable Justice M. Shittu Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Warri had ruled on March 25, 2015 that Ethiope West State Constituency 1 be restored as a state constituency with an elected member in the State House of Assembly.

But six years down the line, the electoral umpire, INEC blatantly refused to respect the court order, he lamented saying “hence, your legislative sagacity and your strong commitment as a true advocate and instrument for accomplishment of this great feat is highly appreciated by my humble self and the good people of Idjerhe Kingdom.

“Let me place it on record that you have contributed immensely for the emancipation and the political freedom for the suppressed and oppressed people of my kingdom and this singular action has calmed the already frail nerves and doused the political tension that emanated from the age long oppression.

“My distinguished Senator, we the good people of Idjerhe Kingdom do not just see you as a perfect representative of the Urhobo Nation at the upper legislative chambers, but we are convinced that God placed you where you are today to help oil the development and political upliftment of Urhobo Nation in general and Idjerhe Kingdom in particular.

“Idjerhe Kingdom as you well known is endowed with verse land waiting to be harnessed and like Oliver Twist, we will always ask for more. Idjerhe Kingdom is open to modern investment as our verse water front lands are ready for would be investors and Federal Government projects.

“Once again, accept my warm royal appreciation for this your kind gesture”, the letter reads.
