Pandemonium broke out on Wednesday at the United State century-old legislative chambers as President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the capitol hill, clashing with police.

BIGPEN reports that the unprecedented development which erupted with street protests by Trump’s supporters led to a huge security breaches, forcing both Houses of the American Congress on lockdown Wednesday.

Multiple reports indicate that there was turmoil inside the building as people working inside were ordered by local safety officials to shelter in their offices.

Vice President Mike Pence who was reportedly inside the building was whisked away to safety as surge of protesters forced their way into the congress building.

Multiple footages show the invaders scaled fence into the building in protest of the outcome of the November 3, 2020 US presidential election. The election was declared won by Joe Biden but is still being disputed by Trump and his supporters.

In one of the video, Trump supporters were seen walking through the building, waving flags and clashing violently with security. Some members of the US Congress were told to don gas masks after teargas was deployed inside the building.

On the other hand, outside the building hundreds of supporters barged through police lines and took over the steps of the Capitol. Video showed injured police officers and violent tussles as they stormed the building.

BIGPEN reports that the development has stalled the Senate and the House of Representatives debate over congressional certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory over Trump in the November’s presidential election.

A joint session of Congress was in progress to certify Biden’s victory before the protesters’ “invasion” of the Congress building, which had to be evacuated.

Local medias in the US report that officials have imposed a night curfew to disperse the rally in front of the White House which was addressed by President Trump.

Trump has stuck to his gun over his ‘baseless’ claims and conspiracy theories that the election was somehow fraudulently won by the Biden, though there is no evidence to support this.

Biden is expected to be sworn in as the U.S. 46th President on January 20.
