For alleged anti-party activities, the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), has suspended Senator Magnus Abe.

BIGPENNGR.COM understands the party, also axed other chieftains of the party including Hon. Igo Aguma, Barr. Wogu Boms and Livingstone Wechie.

Party faithful familiar with the development, say the suspension follows the crisis rocking the Rivers APC as Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Abe continue to lock horns for the control of the party’s structure in the state.

The state Caretaker Committee of the party, Isaac Abbot-Ogbobula, loyal to Ameachi announced on Saturday that Rivers APC has approved the suspension of Abe from the party, purportedly on the recommendation of the Gokana Ward 16 executive of the former Senator, a report in The New Diplomat said.

The party also announced the expulsion of all members of the party who took the party to court despite the moves and interventions of the national leadership of the party.

However, Aguma, who is loyal to the Abe’s faction has insisted he remains the Chairman of the party in the state.

In a counter move, the faction claims it has suspended Ogbobula, already recognized by the National Executive Committee, (NEC) of the party, according to report in The New Diplomat.

The Abe’s faction maintains that Ogbobula has been suspended by Ward 10 Executives of APC in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he hails from.

According to a statement signed by Ward 10 Chairman, Micheal Uzuke, Amaechi’s loyalist, Ogbobula remains a suspended member of the party.

“Ogbobula’s  activities of recent can best be described as capable of causing self-implosion and further reduction of the party to a mere social club, the Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 10, Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Rivers State hereby suspend the said Mr. Isaac Ogbobula from the party with immediate effect for anti-party activities.

“This is necessary to save the image of the party from further embarrassment and to serve as a deterrent to his likes within the party,” Uzuke said.
