President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of a committee for the reopening of seme and three other land borders with immediate effect, while others will be reopened in due course.

The Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, made the disclosure after the 28th virtual meeting, which the President attended from Daura, Katsina.

The Council meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

According to Ahmed, restriction on the importation of some commodities, like rice and other products, would however continue.

The borders opened for now include Seme and Mfun borders in the Southwest, Ilela and Maigatari borders in the Northwest.

Meanwhile, the federal government has said Nigerians should expect to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of January 2021.

The minister of health, Osagie Ehanire said technical working group in the ministry is working on which vaccine will best suit Nigeria considering that the country has no -80 degrees freezers.

The Federal Government had last week announced that it has put machinery in places preparatory to the country receiving 20 million COVID-19 vaccine early next year.
