Nigeria Sees Record Spike In COVID-19 In Days With More Cases, Deaths
Isolation centres are becoming overwhelmed in most part of Nigeria as the country’s cases of Coronavirus keep soaring by the day.
The surge of COVID-19 hit its head in last three days with more cases even as fatalities rate went up significantly compared to the previous weeks.
The country had on Friday recorded 600 cases, a slight increase from the 595 infections on Thursday.
According to the figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on its website, the country on Saturday recorded 653 new cases of COVID-19.
Lagos State, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria, had the most cases with 115 out of the 653 infections on Saturday.
According to NCDC, six deaths were recorded on Saturday, bring the number of those who have lost their lives to the virus in Nigeria to 778.
So far, the country has had 36,107, with 14,938 successfully treated and discharged.
Also, Kwara State recorded a spike, with 85 cases, while Enugu State had 80 and the Federal Capital Territory recorded 78 infections.
Other states that recorded infections were Rivers (36), Ondo (35), Oyo (30), Katsina (28), Kaduna (19), Abia (19), Nasarawa (18), Plateau (17), Imo (16), Ogun (9), Ebonyi (9), Benue (9), Kano (9), Delta (8), Bauchi (7), Ekiti (6), Gombe (4), Bayelsa (4), Adamawa (4), Osun (4), Cross River (1), Yobe (1), Borno (1) and Zamfara (1).
