Delta Beats Lagos In Highest Single-day COVID-19 Spike As Nigeria Adds 790 Cases

Delta state on Wednesday recorded a record single-day spike in deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) beating Lagos state, the epicenter of the virus in the country after Nigeria announced 790 new confirmed cases and 13 deaths.
This comes as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, early on Wednesday, via his verified twitter handle, announced that himself, alongside his wife, Dame Edith, had tested positive to the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
This is also coming barely six days ago after the governor had announced that he and his wife were going into self isolation after one of his daughters had tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease.
BIGPEN had reported that the governor’s daughter was among the 106 COVID-19 cases confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the State on Thursday, June 25.
Announcing the latest figures, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), also disclosed 26,484 COVID-19 tally in the country, 10,152 discharged and 603 deaths recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
NCDC says the 790 new cases were reported from 21 states.
Delta topped the chant with (166) cases, followed by Lagos with (120), Enugu (66), FCT(65), Edo(60), Ogun(43), Kano(41), Kaduna(39), Ondo(33), Rivers(32),
Other states like Bayelsa had (29), Katsina(21), Imo(20), Kwara(18), Oyo(11), Abia(10), Benue(6), Gombe(4), Yobe(2), Bauchi(2) while Kebbi had (2).
