UPDATED: Lockdown: Omo-Agege Embarks On House-To-House Cash Aid Disbursement To Constituents

Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has began a house-to-house cash aid disbursement to his constituents in Delta Central senatorial district as part of measures to cushion the effect of the imposed coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic lockdown in his state.

The order to stay-at-home over the COVID-19 has entered the eleventh day in the State.

The exercise was flagged off on Saturday afternoon in Kokori Inland in Ethiope East Local Government Area by two of his aides, Innocent Anidi and Matthew Omonade who coordinated the cash distribution from house-to-house without discrimination.

Elated by the gesture, a 70 year old elderly woman, Madam Efe Rose, showered praises on the Deputy Senate President, for the gesture, praying God to bless him and his family.

She commended the manner in which the palliatives were distributed, adding that it was good that everybody benefited without recourse to party affiliation.

“I thank Senator Omo-Agege for this kind gesture. May God continue to bless him, bless his family and take him to greater heights.”

Also, an elderly man who was a beneficiary of the palliative, Mr. Onomuakpokpo, thanked the Senator for his magnanimity, urging him to prevail on the authorities to relax the lockdown to allow sick people have access to their caregiver.

He said that his family members who usual come to visit him to take care of him have been stuck at home because of the order.

While saying the cash gift would go far ameliorating his challenges in the period, he urged the government to lift the order soonest so that people can go to farms to produce what to eat.

“I thank him for this gift. May God bless him. But as you can see, I’m wheel chair and my children who are taking care of me are now at home.

“Government should lift the ban so that people can go about to source for their means of livelihood.

As of the time of this report, the exercise was still ongoing with well over two hundred persons receiving the gift of N5,000 each.

The exercise is expected to continue in other part of the Delta Central Senatorial District in the coming days.
