Gunmen Kill Delta Poly Staff

Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed a non academy staff of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased, a senior administrative staff of the polytechnic was shot dead reportedly at a popular relaxation spot in Ogwashi-Uku where he was trailed to by the suspected assailants.

Multiple sources told BIGPEN Online that the attackers released several volume of gun shots on the deceased simply identified as John Chukwudi and ensured he died before leaving the scene while shooting sporadically.

“He was shot six times from close range by the assailants who monitored him until he breathed his last in the pool of his blood.

“The shooting caused pandemonium in the area as customers who had come to have fun, and people within the neighborhood as they scampered for safety, one of the source disclosed

When contacted, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said the information was still scanty, adding however that the command has launched investigation.

Adeleke disclosed that the deceased was an administrative staff of the polytechnic and not a lecturer.

Also, the Public Relation Officer of the polytechnic, Manfred Oyibode confirmed the death, but quickly added that police were  already “handling the matter. It will not be wise for me to make categorical statement on it now.

“He was not kill in the school premises. The news that filters in, says the young man was just coming out from the place when he was attacked and shot. He is not a lecturer but a non-teaching staff”, he said.

Recall that a similar incident happened in the polytechnic last month where a 43-year-old man, Prince Chukwuebo, was killed by unknown gunmen prompting the arrest and interrogations of more than seven top management staff of the Polytechnic by the state Police Command.

Chukwuebo, a contractor with the institution, was reportedly strangled to death by some unknown persons on the school premises.

His decomposed body was reportedly found in one of the uncompleted buildings, four days after he was reported missing by his wife.
